WoW Forever roadmap: 17 September beta, 4 November launch, 9 December raids, then Hardcore and 'a revamped iconic raid' — dated where Blizzard dated it, and a changelog of what this site updates
The WoW Forever roadmap has three dates and a promise. The dates: beta on 17 September 2026, launch on 4 November at 3:00 p.m. Pacific, raids unlocking on 9 December. The promise, from the What's Next recap: 'followed by more raids, dungeons, PvP updates, world content, additional quests throughout the level 1–60 journey, Hardcore, a revamped iconic raid, and major updates that will keep expanding this evergreen version of Azeroth over time'. This hub keeps the dated and the undated apart, links the two live feeds on this site that catch Blizzard's next post within minutes, and carries a changelog of every correction made to these pages so a reader can see what changed and when.
Two comparison pages sit under this hub — Forever versus Classic, and Forever versus modern WoW — because the most common roadmap question is really 'which one should I play'.
Dated: what Blizzard has put a day on
Seven items carry a date in Blizzard's material, one of them (the Collection's end) via Warcraft Tavern's read of the Battle.net Shop. Everything else Blizzard has said about the future is a list without a calendar.

| Date | Milestone | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 12 Sep 2026 | Reveal at BlizzCon 2026 | S3, S9 |
| 13 Sep 2026 | Deep Dive panel (10:00 a.m. PDT); Found Photos recap | S1, S4, S5 |
| 17 Sep 2026 | Beta opens (Epic Pack / Collection owners; Beta Opt-In invitations) | S1, S3, S6 |
| 17 Sep 2026, 10:00 a.m. PDT | Live developer Q&A (Twitch, YouTube) | S2 |
| 20 Oct 2026 | Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes emailed to pack buyers (from this date) | S6 |
| 21 Oct 2026 | Beta ends ('available through October 21') | S6 |
| 27 Oct – 3 Nov 2026 | Early Name Reservation window, first come first served | S6 |
| 4 Nov 2026, 3:00 p.m. Pacific | Global launch; Epic/Collection Game Time starts | S1, S3, S6 |
| 4–11 Nov 2026 | Invite-A-Friend access window for invited friends | S6 |
| 9 Dec 2026 | Hyjal Summit (20) and Barrow Deeps (10) unlock | S3 |
| 11 Jan 2027 | Warcraft Forever Collection leaves the shop | S6, S12 |
Undated: the promises, in Blizzard's order
'New raids unlock on December 9, followed by more raids, dungeons, PvP updates, world content, additional quests throughout the level 1–60 journey, Hardcore, a revamped iconic raid, and major updates that will keep expanding this evergreen version of Azeroth over time.' Elsewhere: Hardcore is 'available after launch'; the Legacy system will gain 'new challenges, new perks, additional ways to spend points, expanded spending caps, new columns within existing trees, and potentially entirely new trees'; race-class combinations have 'more planned for future updates'; class details are 'planned through future videos and articles'; the raids' 'legendary reward' is one Blizzard is 'looking forward to revealing in full'.
Blizzard's own framing of the cadence: 'This is not a mode, a season, or a new version of Classic. It is a promise to keep building this world with the community, guided by your feedback, and made to last.' No patch numbering, no season structure and no expansion is described. The level cap stays at 60.
- More raids (after the 9 December pair).
- More dungeons.
- PvP updates and new rewards.
- World content and more quests across 1–60.
- Hardcore ruleset.
- 'A revamped iconic raid' (unnamed).
- Legacy system growth; more race-class combos; per-class articles; the legendary reveal.
What to expect on 17 September, specifically
It is the busiest published day before launch. The beta opens for owners of the $59.99 Epic Pack or the $79.99 Collection. At 10:00 a.m. PDT Blizzard hosts the live Q&A answering forum-submitted questions, with a VOD afterwards. Given what the panels left open — class changes beyond the Paladin, Forever-specific requirements, region details, XP, dungeon levels, the economy's scope — the Q&A is the first scheduled place answers can appear. This site's news feed reads Blizzard's news page every 30 minutes and flags Forever posts; the forum watch reads the official WoW: Forever forum every 15 minutes and marks threads with a Blizzard reply. Both are linked from this hub's navigation.
Which version should you play? Two comparison pages
Forever versus Classic is the question for anyone who has played Era, Hardcore or Season of Discovery: same cap, same world, same pacing, but a new layer of systems, three new zones and a different server model. Forever versus retail is the question for a modern player: no flying, no scaling, no expansions, a subscription that already covers it. Both pages are built from Blizzard's own stated differences and say where a difference is unstated.

The five Blizzard documents this roadmap is built from, and what each contains
Anyone can read the primary sources in twenty minutes; the table says which one answers what, so the reader does not have to take this site's word for it. All five are linked in the sources list at the foot of this page.
| Document | What it settles |

| BlizzCon round-up — 'World of Warcraft at BlizzCon 2026: Discover What's Next' | the 17 September Q&A, the Forsaken Kingdom tie-in |
| What's Next panel recap | pillars; no flying / no scaling; zones; Skyborne class rules; nine dungeons; two raids; battleground; the roadmap sentence |

What could arrive between now and launch, with the speculation marked
Only three things are scheduled: the beta and the Q&A on 17 September, and launch on 4 November. What follows is pattern, not promise. Blizzard has said class details are 'planned through future videos and articles', so per-class posts between mid-September and launch are the announced intent without dates. Beta patches and hotfix notes would normally appear on the official forum and news site as the beta runs; Forever's forum category exists for that. A launch-week article with the exact server-open procedure is Blizzard's habit for Classic launches. None of those has been announced for Forever, and this hub lists them only so that their absence is not mistaken for a change of plan.
The one thing this site will not do is publish a date Blizzard has not. The forum is already full of guesses; the changelog above records only what is sourced.
- Scheduled: 17 Sep beta + Q&A; 4 Nov launch; 9 Dec raids.
- Announced without dates: per-class articles; the legendary reveal; Hardcore; the revamped iconic raid.
- Pattern only (unannounced): beta patch notes; a launch-procedure post; region/queue information.
This site's changelog
Every correction or addition to these pages is logged here with the date and the Blizzard source that caused it, so nothing changes silently. Entries are newest first.
| Date | Change | Because |
|---|---|---|
| 16 Sep 2026 (evening) | Beta end date (21 Oct), Beta Opt-In, Invite-A-Friend code terms (4–11 Nov access, emailed from 20 Oct, no gift purchases), name-reservation window (27 Oct – 3 Nov), 'changes to Honor', Windshaper Horde / High Order Alliance added across the beta, launch, price, codes, is-free, Skyborne, PvP and realmless pages. | Blizzard's official product page (worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-us/forever) footnotes — the page is script-rendered, so its text was missed on the first read and read with a browser afterwards. |
| 16 Sep 2026 | Site published: Launch, Classes & Races, World, Guide and Roadmap hubs with 24 pages, the official news feed, the forum watch and the codes page. | Blizzard's four articles of 12–13 Sep 2026 and the Battle.net Shop as reported 12–13 Sep. |
| 16 Sep 2026 | Riverglades quest count shown as 150–200. | What's Next recap says 'more than 150'; Found Photos recap says 'nearly 200'. |
| 16 Sep 2026 | Beta date recorded as 17 September despite the announcement's closing line reading 'November 17'. | The same article and the What's Next recap say September 17 three times between them; November would postdate launch. |
| 16 Sep 2026 | Invite-A-Friend code counts recorded as 1 / 3 / 3. | Blizzard's list; Blizzard Watch counted 1 / 2 / 3. |
| 16 Sep 2026 | System requirements page not published. | Blizzard has published no Forever-specific requirements and this site could not read the official general requirements article; nothing is quoted from aggregators. |
Where each open question lives on this site
To keep this hub short, the unanswered questions are held on the page they belong to. Class changes beyond the Paladin: the classes hub. Dungeon bosses and levels: the dungeons page. Whether the original raids exist: the raids page. Region list, economy scope, RP-PvP: the realmless page. A stand-alone Skyborne unlock: the Skyborne and price pages. Forever-specific system requirements: not yet a page, for the reason in the changelog. Each is marked 'not published' on its page and will be answered there, with a date, when Blizzard posts.
What 'evergreen' has meant before, and why it matters for expectations
Blizzard's word for Forever is 'evergreen version of Azeroth', and its description of the cadence is deliberately unlike an expansion cycle: content 'over time', no new cap, no new continent. The nearest precedent in Blizzard's own history is Classic's phased release in 2019–2020, where raids opened on a schedule after launch — which is the pattern the 9 December raid date follows. Beyond that, the roadmap is a list of categories, and this site does not convert categories into dates. When a date appears, it moves from the undated list to the dated table above.
New raids unlock on December 9, followed by more raids, dungeons, PvP updates, world content, additional quests throughout the level 1–60 journey, Hardcore, a revamped iconic raid, and major updates that will keep expanding this evergreen version of Azeroth over time.
